Your Guide

Captain Curtis “Cletus” Cecchi

Raised in Saint Charles, Illinois. Curtis got hooked on fishing young. “It all started when my dad put a rod in my hands at the age of four and I caught my first black bass out of a retention pond in Fairfield, California back in 1999.” He has been fishing ever since. From the Mangroves of Florida, to the wild rivers of Alaska, Curtis has fished all over the United States. At the age of 27, he has over 20 years angling experience, 8 of which were spent competitively fishing for Bass in high school and at collegiate level for the University of South Carolina. It goes without saying that Curtis has a fish brain on his shoulders. When Curtis discovered the Northwoods of Wisconsin, he decided to make Vilas County home for a reason. “Fishing opportunities up here are like no where else.”

Curtis is a  U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain with ratings inland and on the Great Lakes. He is also a CPR certified and a registered EMR with the Presque Isle Fire Department. You could hardly fish with anyone more qualified to ensure your safety out on the water while getting you to the fish.

Why Fox Valley Outdoors?

Why Book with FVO Guide Service?

If the smiles in the photos don’t speak for themselves here are a few words from Captain Curtis to his future client.

You will be hard pressed to find someone more consumed by the art of fishing than I. My passion for the sport runs deep and my love of teaching and passing on knowledge is a very important part of the fishing culture. I didn’t get to where I am today as a fisherman without the help of others sharing their knowledge and teaching me a few things they know. I’m 28 years old now and have been collecting fishing knowledge for 24 of those 28 years. Nothing brings me more joy than passing on knowledge and watching my clients turn it into success on the water.

However, I am also aware that time on the water is not all about the fish. Its about spending time with friends and family in the great outdoors that we enjoy here in this great country. So my other main objective to create an environment on my boat or on the ice where you can relax and take in what’s going on around you. Not worrying about launching a boat, or making sure the bait days fresh, or toiling over a tangled line. When you’re in my care, all you need to do is focus on taking in the moment. If your blood pressure doesn’t drop while you’re out on the water with me than I haven’t done my job.

Thanks and I look forward to fishing with you.

Why Fox Valley Outdoors? You don’t guide in Appleton?

A word from Captain Curtis:

Some of you might be wondering why I named my guide service “Fox Valley Outdoors”. I’m not exactly guiding in or around the Wisconsin Fox River valley currently.

Well the name comes from the fact that I originally started this business when I still lived in Saint Charles, Illinois. St.Charles straddles the Fox River and the region stretching from Algonquin to Ottawa is known as the Fox Valley to the locals down there.

To many here in Wisconsin the name has been confusing as the Fox Valley is known to be the region that stretches from Appleton to Green Bay. Being a transplant, I didn’t know any better. I felt it was a good strong name for a guide outfit, so I stuck with Fox Valley Outdoors and continued to poor my time and effort into building my business around this brand.

So I apologies for the confusion and I hope this doesn’t deter you from coming up north and fishing with me.

Where we fish

Unleash your inner angler with Fox Valley Outdoors, your premier Vilas County fishing guide service! Nestled in Presque Isle, Wisconsin, we unlock the secrets of the legendary headwaters of Vilas County and beyond. Imagine casting your line on glistening lakes like Presque Isle, Clear, Big, Gogebic, Trout, the Cisco Chain, and so many more – all teeming with world-class fish yearning for a fight.

While trophy smallmouth bass are our specialty – bruisers exceeding 6 pounds are no rarity, with monsters pushing 7 and 8 pounds surfacing annually – the excitement doesn’t stop there. Vilas County boasts a legendary musky fishery, rivaled only by nearby Boulder Junction, once crowned “Musky Capital of the World” for over 40 years. And for those seeking a delectable walleye dinner, trophy-sized fighters lurk beneath the surface.

This isn’t about quantity; it’s about quality. Forget the overwhelming numbers of other fisheries – here, each cast is a chance to connect with a true trophy, a fish that will become a legend in your angling tales.

Ready to chase the giants? Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a curious newcomer, Fox Valley Outdoors is your Vilas County fishing guide service. Book your adventure today and let’s turn your fishing dreams into reality!

This revision streamlines the flow by combining sentences and emphasizing Vilas County fishing guide service throughout the paragraph. It also removes unnecessary information about Boulder Junction and focuses more on the variety and trophy potential Vilas County offers.

What We Fish For

Northern Wisconsin is a multi-species fishing paradise! Crystal clear waters teeming with a variety of fish make it an angler’s dream. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, there’s a fish of a lifetime waiting to be caught.

Bass fishing here is some of the finest in the state. Whether its targeting trophy smallmouth or hectic summer days where largemouth and smallmouth bass battle for your lure. Vilas County offers an unforgettable experience for every bass angler.

For a true challenge, chase the legendary musky, the “fish of ten thousand casts.” Their prehistoric size and power will leave you breathless.

Don’t forget the walleye, prized for their delicate flavor. Troll crankbaits in open water or jig live bait near weed edges for these tasty fighters.

Northern pike also lurk in the shallows, ready to ambush your lure with lightning speed.

While panfish like bluegill and crappie provide endless hours of fun, perfect for a relaxing afternoon on the water.

Craving a different kind of challenge? Head to the cool streams where brook trout hide. Their vibrant colors and fighting spirit make them a favorite among fly fishermen.

Captain Curtis Cecchi of Fox Valley Outdoors has the knowledge and experience to put you on a fishing trip of a lifetime. He understands the habitat, habits, and seasonal patterns of each species. Tell him your dream catch, and he’ll craft the perfect itinerary to put you right on top of them. So, grab your rod, book your trip, and get ready to experience the incredible multi-species bounty of Northern Wisconsin!
